ARTLINE:Berlin was founded in 2004 by American artist, PABLO reese von Lichtenberg who envisioned a cultural infusion in what was a group of  vacant commercial store fronts in the Boxhagener quartier of  Berlin-Friedrichshain. Under the direction of GALLERY twenty-four, Berlin’s premier gallery for autodidactic & undiscovered artists from around the  world, the project shall seek to organize and create an cultural  project consisting of 6 storefront studio spaces together with a network of independent exhibition galleries. ARTLINE:Berlin will be a cultural and economic catalyst for the revitalization of the Gryphius Strasse neighborhood and the  Boxhagener Platz/Ostkreuz area.

Friedrichshain, a dynamic magnet for culture, entertainment, retail business and community activity, and the European home to MTV and Universal Music, is  indisputably becoming the alternative cultural arts center of Berlin.  ARTLINE:Berlin, which is located in the heart of the bustling Boxhagener and Ostkreuz revitalization districts, shall strive to be recognized as one of Berlin’s major cultural institutions operating  from its historic location in former East Berlin. The first phase of the ARTLINE project with over 400 square meters includes 6 artists' studios, an international exhibition gallery, a photo gallery, a fashion design studio, a goldsmith work shop, and room for plenty of culturally related activities, events and art instructional programs.  Of the 1.2  million international and national visitors to Berlin annually, hundreds will be enticed to walk through the cultural center with its enchanting architecture and be  given the opportunity to view ARTLINE's display windows, sculpture garden and  exhibitions.

For its role in shaping Berlin’s reawakening cultural landscape, ARTLINE is dedicated to the organization and implementation of various cultural events  such as, the monthly Mimosa Sonntag and Night of Discovery programs as well as its future plans to establish the annual Summer Solstice International Arts Festival. These activities are aimed at increasing, not only, the exposure of ARLINE:Berlin in the international arts market, but also designed to aid in the economic redevelopment of the historic Boxhagener/Ostkreuz district and mold a cultural hub in the former East Berlin.

ARTLINE’s existence will have a profound impact on the Berlin art scene  and its emerging profile, as well as providing a gathering place for talented and ambitious young international artists.

As a cultural incubator promoting the development of not only visual arts and  artists, ARTLINE:Berlin will stive to become an important resource for Berlin’s cultural life. Through our policy of open studios and free admission, ARTLINE:Berlin will  aim to expose the public to the artistic process on a daily basis, helping  promote the idea that everyone can be connected to the creative energy of  art-making. Simultaneously, we will nurture the artists' creative efforts and  encourage the community's understanding of the value of this effort, helping  residents and visitors reconnect with the creative energies inherent in us all.

No other institution in the region offers this array of services or even this kind of approach.
